“AND WHAT NAME were you just now?” I ask.

“Not one you’ve learned yet.”

“And what would it take,” I say, “to learn it?”

“I’d probably have to play with your hair a lot,” she says.

I sit down and wave her over, the wave green. “Then do it, I demand you.”

I am looking at the trees so I do not see her, but I feel her fingers in my hair, on my head. Intermittently following the string woven there, though not moving it. Her touch is warm, the wind cold.

I close my eyes.

And do not think of ivy, do not think of mountains. Only of this wind and the orange light around my head.

And the name “Loka,” which Tellus whispers into my ear.
